Welcome
to king Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School for Boys
For more than 160 years, King Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School has combined academic excellence with a genuine commitment to developing young people of character.
Our greatest strength is not our history, impressive though it is. It is the character of the students who walk through our gates each day and the community that helps them flourish.
Everything we do is shaped by our CARES values: Community, Aspiration, Respect, Endeavour and Service. They define our culture, our expectations and our belief that every student should be known, valued and challenged to achieve their very best.
Our students are curious, kind and ambitious. They embrace opportunities, support one another and make us proud every day, whether they are achieving success in the classroom, on the sports field, on the stage or through serving others. They are the finest ambassadors for our school.
As a selective grammar school for boys aged 11–16, with a thriving co-educational Sixth Form, we are proud to be part of the Grammar Schools in Birmingham, the King Edward VI Foundation and the King Edward VI Academy Trust. Together with our families, we nurture a love of learning, develop character and inspire every young person to make a positive difference in the world.
We hope our website gives you a flavour of what makes Handsworth Grammar School such a special place. Better still, we hope you will visit us and experience our community for yourself.
